Load inertia is referred to the motor shaft; above 10:1 you get a warning and Auto mode prefers a better-matched motor.

How it chooses

The right servo axis in four steps

Torque / power

The smallest motor whose rated torque (or power) meets your need; peak torque and speed conditions can be added.

Inertia

EM3A for fast start-stop, EM3J general purpose, EM3G for fluctuating loads. Enter load inertia to check the ratio.

Drive

An ED3L sized to the motor; EtherCAT, pulse/CANopen or PROFINET. ED3L-FS02 or ED3S for STO.

Cables and connector

Power (with/without brake) and encoder cable (battery type for absolute) from Estun's configuration table; I/O connector to suit the drive.

Don't know the torque? The servo motor sizing tool calculates torque, speed and inertia ratio from the mechanism and motion profile. Open the sizing tool

FAQ

About the configurator

How does the configurator choose the motor?

Among the EM3 motors that match your inertia type, encoder, brake and supply choices, it picks the smallest motor whose rated (continuous) torque or power is equal to or above your requirement. If several options have the same rating, the lower set price comes first. The drive and cables are matched from Estun's official configuration table.

Do the prices include VAT?

No. The amounts are USD list prices from the October 2026 price list, excluding VAT. The final price, exchange rate and delivery time are given in the quote.

How are cable length and flexible cable prices calculated?

The default length is 5 metres. Other lengths are priced from the connectorised cable price plus a per-metre cable difference. Choose flexible (RX) cable for axes moving in a cable chain.

Can I choose a drive with STO?

Yes. STO (safe torque off) is available on EtherCAT drives: the ED3L …-FS02 version or the ED3S Summa with built-in STO and a second encoder input. For power sizes without an STO version in the list, ask for a quote.

I don't know the required torque. What should I do?

Use our servo motor sizing tool to calculate torque, speed and inertia ratio from the mechanism (ball screw, belt, conveyor, rotary table) and motion profile, or describe your application and ask ONX engineers for support.
