Engineering and R&D
In short
When the control architecture and drives are chosen together with the mechanical design, a new machine gets the best balance of cost and performance. ONX Control supports machine builders with motion profiles, motor and drive sizing, control architecture and kinematic software design.
Scope of service
- Motion profile, load and inertia analysis; motor, gearbox and drive sizing
- Choice of control architecture: PC-based (CODESYS) or PLC, communication network, I/O structure
- Kinematic and synchronization architecture (electronic cam, CNC, robot kinematics)
- Trials and measurements on the prototype machine
- Creating a standard software and hardware package for series production
How we work
-
1
Requirements
Cycle time, accuracy and cost targets of the machine are defined.
-
2
Analysis and selection
Motion profiles are calculated and hardware options compared.
-
3
Prototype
The selected architecture is tried on the prototype and verified by measurement.
-
4
Standardization
A software template and bill of materials suitable for series production are created.
Frequently asked questions
Can we get sizing support only?
Yes. Motor, gearbox and drive sizing from motion profile and load data can be done as a separate study; ONX Motion Sizing can be used for a first estimate.
PC-based control or PLC?
For machines with many synchronized axes, CNC or robotics and heavy data processing, a PC-based CODESYS architecture gives flexibility; for simple machines with few axes a compact PLC may be enough. The choice follows the machine's requirements.
